Texas State University’s College of Health Professions is based in San Marcos, Texas. The college offers a Long Term Care Administration Graduate Certificate that can be completed 100% online. The certificate is designed to offer curriculum and field placement for graduates to become licensed nursing facility administrators. The college offers a Masters in Health Information Management which is offered online and provides students knowledge about the evolving field of health data, as healthcare organizations increasingly attempt to analyze health problems using patient statistics. The college’s Master of Science in Respiratory Care is offered completely online and allows students to pick from a Leadership concentration, which focuses on administration for improving respiratory health, or a Polysomnography concentration, which qualifies students to become Sleep Disorder Specialists. The college also offers a Masters of Science in Nursing as Family Nurse Practitioner which will qualify students to become Nurse Practitioners or Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. Most of the courses for their nursing degree are online, though they require students to be on campus for two weekends per semester.
The University of North Texas is based in Fort Worth Texas, and offers an MPH degree that can be completed 100% online. Students will choose from either the Global Health or the Geographic Information Systems elective track. One of the main attractions of their online MPH degrees is the university’s proven ability to find their students great practicum opportunities for hands-on learning experiences that will prepare them for their career. The practicum is worth three credits, and students will also be responsible for 33 credits of core coursework, and 12 credits of elective specific course work.
Texas A&M is located in College Station, Texas and offers an online MPH in the field of Epidemiology. The coursework for their degree will be largely based in statistical research and analysis. Students will track the trends of public health issues from a macro-level perspective, and come up with solutions to keep contagious diseases from spreading over a population. Their program is designed to be completed in two years, and all of it can be completed online, though not every class is offered online every semester, so sometimes students will have to take a class on campus if they want to stay on the two-year track.
